HEALING BENEFITS OF CEREMONIAL CACAO

Named as the “food of the God’s” by the Aztecs, this powerful plant medicine has amazing benefits to the body physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Cacao boasts a very high antioxidant content with over 300 beneficial compounds. Some of these compounds contain anti-inflammatory properties due to the potent polyphenols and flavanols. These are powerful antioxidants that can help reduce the oxidative stress in our body that is caused by an imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants. We all have free radical damage, some more than others.

Reducing oxidative stress therefore reduces inflammation and the risk of other major health issues like cancer, autoimmune disease, heart disease and depression. Cacao helps increase oxygen to the blood and therefore assisting circulation and brain function.

Energetically, Ceremonial cacao is said to open up the heart and connect us to our body and our intentions. It helps strengthen our awareness and focus as it stimulates our nervous system due to the increase in oxygen in our blood. It isn’t a stimulate like coffee where you can have a jittery or nervous feeling. It is an activation of the body at a cellular level.

Ceremonial cacao is different to ordinary cacao or cocoa powder. Ceremonial cacao is 100% pure cacao bean paste and has more beneficial properties than ordinary cacao or cocoa. It is made by gently drying the beans and then ground to a paste that is then set into a block. Nothing is processed, added or removed. It still has the cacao beans fat which contains much of the beneficial nutrients and helps the absorption of those nutrients into the cells of our body. When taken into a ceremony it helps us connect with our intentions, our body and our energy.

Cacao powder is highly processed and had that beneficial cacao butter taken out so many of the nutrients go with it. The living enzymes, healthy fat and energy has been removed.

Cocoa powder has been roasted at high heat for long periods of time. It has very little nutritional value in comparison to Ceremonial Grade Cacao and it tastes bitter and powdery.

Ceremonial Cacao is clearly beneficial to the body. I actually took my time diving in after hearing so much about it from a friend. She raved about it and I honestly thought “how good could it be really?”. But she was right. It definitely has a profound affect on the mind, body and soul. If you have heard about it but are unsure whether you want to try it, watch the video below on how I make it and see how easy it is. It’s all about connection and intent.
